The Return Well i'm back...again... Yeah, yeah, i know....i've done/said this more than once and disappeared after a couple of posts. Hard to explain why...the closest reason being possibly me losing my 'fire'? I donno...maybe i was happy and contented with life that i decided to plaster over the cracks... That (hopefully) will change... I don't believe in resolutions but i'll make an exception here... 2009 started out with a bang, i'll admit...everything was fun and roses... Until somewhere around the middle of the year where it started to suck b***s... But its ended pretty ok... Not much to complain about (not anything i want to HERE anyways...already ranted in person...if you know, you know...) so lets look on the positives... As far as 2009 goes, it was the year... - i found out how many people truly loved me...and how many didn't - i realised that i have it in me to carry on regardless of what might happen to me - i was proved wrong when i thought i could not make/meet any more True Friends - i reached within me to forgive and forget...(not who some of you are thinking of) - i've had my patience tested (in more than one way) and stayed calm - where i decided where my future lies There has been alot of bad...but the good always outweigh the bad...and i'm also thankful that 2009 has taught me some valuable lessons...no matter how much they hurt. Most importantly as the new year begins, i'd like to take a moment to thank the people who have stood with me through my laughter and my tears... My family and my friends...i love all of you... Heres looking to a better 2010 and beyond. Jay P.s: The blog is still undergoing changes so bear with the all white background...will get to that asap :) Thursday, December 25, 2008
My Movie Event Of The Year For 2009... X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE HDJust my views on a couple of things in the trailer:
All that said... i'm REALLY looking forward to this movie...and i'm praying REAL hard that it doesn't turn out like the last X-Men movie... See Ya, Don't Wanna Be Ya Jay Tuesday, December 02, 2008
Just realised that its been awhile since i blogged about football in general (ok, ok its been awhile since i BLOGGED in general...) and i keep hearing J.P egging me on to do a write up...so i've decided to give my 2 cents worth of the happenings in world football... Manchester United ![]() 1st up, my beloved Red Devils... They'va had a crappy start to the season but things are starting to fall into place right now. Sorta... Owen Hargreaves is still out with a long term injury and i feel that it might affect our season in the long run. Yes, i DO rate him above a certain Mr. Ronaldo and to a certain extent Mr. Rooney, because a team without a midfield engine man gets out possesed...Case in point, Arsenal now... Plus he has a pretty good right-footed deadball delivery/shot Ronaldo is starting to get alil frustrating to watch. For a player with all that skill and finess, it irritates me to watch him try to get the upper-hand by diving or when he argues with the referee. Hell, it irritates me to see ANY player arguing with the referee... The ref ISN'T gonna change his mind just cus you try to do a puppy dog act to plead with him after you tripped on our opponent's bootlace... ![]() ("The mean ref didn't wanna book the guy who messed my hair up!") Get On With It! Darren Fletcher is turning out to be a midfield revelation so far... ![]() ("I'm doing something right? FINALLY!") The usually clumsy scorer of important goals seems to be enjoying himself alongside Carrick in midfield and Hargreaves has not been missed...so far... Carrick is finally being given more starts, i still think he is an underrated player in the mould of Paul Scholes, difference being the Ginger Ninja was alot more robust and couldn't tackle to save his life... Nice to see youngsters like Anderson, Nani, Rafael da Silva, Rodrigo Possebon, Danny Welbeck and Manucho given a run out...lets see more of em Fergie... The knives have been out for Berbatov since he joined us, what with his slow start to the season and his seemingly 'lazy' approach to the game. I for 1 agree with the Cantona comparisons...and i don't blame him for not fitting in quickly...simply because this team is not used to playing with a Cantonaesque player among them. Sure Ronaldo and Rooney have been given free roles to roam around but this team was never built to have 1 main central playmaker. Its all a matter time for the team and the player to gel... Is it just me or does anyone else think Van Der Sar should retire and Ben Foster be made United's No.1 Goalkeeper? ("Edwin missed the save by THAT much and he still get the No.1 Jersey!") Please please please Fergie, keep Tevez... Argentina's answer to the Tazmanian (Red?) Devil has never failed to impress me since day 1, with his high workrate and determination... Plus he scares the shit out of most opposition players when he smiles...thats half the battle won ("I'm gonna take the ball away from you, score and THEN i'm gonna eat you!") We need players like him! And while you're at it, get yourself a better no.2, Mike Phelan is no Brian Kidd/Steve McLaren/Carlos Quieroz... Everyones been saying that its Liverpool's season this time around, that they're gonna add to their 18 league titles with 1 this season... Right... Don't get me wrong, i think they have a fantastic team that can win trophies but the fact is, no matter who is in charge and who plays for them, Liverpool will be Liverpool... They start every season with a "Good chance of winning the league" and end with a "Good Chance of a Champions League spot". The only improvement i see in them is that they're no more a 1 man team, heavily relying on Steven Gerrard... Nope, now they're a 2 man team with Torres helping Stevie G out shouldering the burden...when he isn't injured... Mark my words...the West Ham draw is a sign of things to come... In fact, i was pretty happy that Liverpool beat Chelsea, cus i still rate Chelsea the tougher team to beat, while Liverpool will definately, eventually be beaten... All a matter of time... I pity Arsenal... i really do... A team with the likes of Van Persie, Febragas, Adebayor and Walcott should not be bullied around the pitch the way they have been, even when they win! They still play beautiful football, i'll give them that, problem is, they STILL want to pass the ball into the net and not take their chances with a simple low, hard shot into the corner... Still the Biggest problem i think they have right now, is that they have no true Captain... Sure, the armband has been passed from crybaby Gallas to up and coming Febregas but i don't think Cesc Febregas is Captain material...yet But it might bring out the leader in him...so we shall have to wait and see... Starting out the season as a long running racist joke (funny but leaves a bad taste in your mouth) Spurs have suddenly turned their season around, all thanks in no small degree to Harry "Houdini" Redknapp. ("Did it all with me eyes 'alf closed i did...") The man has a reputation for mining gold from a dung hill, so just imagine what he can do when hes given a gold mine... This proves that the Spurs board DO have a working brain cell among them... I for 1 wouldn't be suprised if Spurs finish in the top 5 this season, get taken over by some wealthy consortium by next season and challenge for the title next season... Oh and Spurs for a trophy this season... Everyone predicted that the newcomers would roll over and die a quick Premiership death...due to the fact that Hull got promoted via a playoff after finishing 3rd in the Championship... What we DID get was Hull tearing away at every other team that crossed their path and justifying the tiger on their crest. Phil Brown has done a fantastic job so far and i won't be suprised if he gets headhunted by a bigger club in the near future...or dare i say, future England manager? Argentina So Diego Maradona is the new coach of the Argentinian National team... ("I'm still better than Pele and everyone else in the world...Now i just need to remember where i am...") Never mind that he has had a very long list of character flaws or that his last coaching stint lasted a mere 3 months into the season but the news of his appointment was met with a celebration befitting a coronation... Which has me puzzled and worried... I mean can you really picture the Argentinain players keeping a straight face when Maradona tells them that alcohol is banned during training, when he tells them that players have to be in bed early to rest for the big match or worse, that they should all "play in the spirit of fairness"? I bet any football fan would have a hard time not smiling just reading the last paragraph... I just wrote that while supressing a disbelieving grin... Maradona and Argentina fans have been going on about how this is a "New Era" in Argentinian football and how Diego has "spurred the team on to beat scotland in his first match in charge". To these people:
So go on Diego...prove me wrong and don't let your team down like you are so prone to doing... Michele Platini/European Football Plan Am i the only guy who thinks that Platini's plan to revamp the Champions League to include the Champion Teams from smaller European Leagues, is a very good idea and is the right direction to go? ("Would it help if i sang my plans out?") I mean think about it, wouldn't it be fun to see new previously unheard of teams raiding Europe's elite club competition and giving the big names a run for their money? For the sceptics who think this will "devalue" the competition or "make it easier" for the bigger teams to get through, i'd recommend tracking the progress of F.C Basel, CFR Cluj and F.C BATE in the Champions League this season... Heres my suggestion:
Think about it...its called the CHAMPIONS LEAGUE...aren't cup winners Champions as well? So why not include them? This will give more value to the top flight cup competitions as well as ensuring all of Europe gets involved in the League. Not to mention a substantial amount of T.V revenue going to the smaller European teams, which will go a long way in developing football in Europe... I am not an S-League fan. I do try to catch matches now and then, just to check out the standards but i do not follow it regularly. That being said, i must admit that i'm beginning to get impressed with what i do catch on T.V. The standards have definately risen and the action is riveting. Not to mention the support the local teams get, what with the flag waving and the drum beating... All these make me wanna catch a match live... The only sour notes with our local league, in my opinion, is the fact that we have foreign teams in it... and also the fact that (till now) we do not have a proper lower league so that teams who finish the bottom 2 get relegated The S-League is about 10 years old, so i think its about time someone in the FAS takes a look into these things. My suggestion: Instead of having foreign teams, how about affiliating our local teams with foreign teams. Be it with a team in India or Italy, Australia or America, have an understanding with these foreign clubs so that we get to import their up and coming players and also send our up and coming players to gain some exposure in the foreign leagues... I'm sure more interest would be generated in the S-League should we have future international players learning the trade over here... Develop the lower leagues - have about 10 potential teams form a lower professional division, the top 2 get promoted to the upper league while the bottom 2 from the upper league get relegated. This will make matches alot more exciting at both ends of the table and we get treated to new teams coming in every other season making it alot more unpredictable... That being said, anyone up to for catching an S-League match anytime soon? Well thats my rant and rave on the beautiful game...What do you think?
